Airborne lidar, when properly collected and applied, can be a phenomenal tool for the accurate and timely mapping of moderate and large scale topography projects.
Thomas & Hutton has been using lidar since 1998 and we have mapped several hundred thousands of acres, most of which were flown to support engineering projects in a low-lying, semi-tropical coastal environments. Because of the relatively flat terrain in which we operate, most of our lidar is mapped to very accurate 1 foot contour quality and is useful for both site planning and engineering design.
