Thomas & Hutton designed the Diamond Interchange including the 4-span bridge over I-16, approaches, ramps, and provisions for lighting. The design included the widening of a one mile section of I-16 and demolishing the existing Quacco Road Overpass. The drainage design included the design of four box culvert structures and crossing a FEMA flood plain. The design for this project was completed in 1997 with a construction cost of $15 million.
Thomas & Hutton conducted the corridor study and developed four conceptual routings for Pooler Parkway, Phase II, a 4.5-mile, four-lane divided on new location and new interchanges at I-16 and US 80. Thomas & Hutton prepared alternatives analysis (PAR), obtained interagency approval of selected alternative, developed project concept, prepared NEPA documentation, prepared concept report for the interchange, coordinated environmental studies (wetlands, threatened and endangered species, cultural resources survey, etc.), obtained jurisdictional wetlands determination, prepared preliminary plans, right-of-way plans, staked right-of-way, and prepared final construction plans (including cover, general notes, index, summary of quantities, typical sections, plan/profile sheets, drainage profiles, cross sections, signing and marking plans, soil erosion and sediment control, box culvert plans and details, bridge plans and details, construction details, and standard details).
