Farrow Parkway Extension
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Farrow Parkway Extension is a 4-lane divided parkway extension with a median through a portion of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. The parkway connects Highway 17 Business with Highway 17 Bypass and routes traffic through the former Air Base and acts as an alternate connector for Myrtle Beach International Airport.
Thomas & Hutton was responsible for the design of a 4-lane divided parkway with a median, streetscape, and superelevation design, street intersections with turning lanes per SCDOT guidelines, and demolition plan and specification for the removal of abandoned air force barracks and other structures.
Thomas & Hutton also analyzed and designed a storm water management system to accommodate runoff from the right-of-way and improve discharge water quality (permitting for the system included a mining permit), the development of a street section to include future utility locations, and cost estimating.
